Abstract

Sub-theme

4. Supporting Aquatic Ecosystem Health and Functions

Topic

4-8. Water quality improvement

Body

At present, China's agricultural water pollution problem is serious. Farmers, as the direct operators of agricultural production, are the main responsible subjects of water pollution problems, but lack effective management of water pollution. On the external economic level, the unstable transfer of agricultural land induces farmers to pursue short-term economic interests in agricultural production activities, making it more likely for farmers to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which in turn aggravates agricultural water pollution. On the internal psychological level, farmers' emotional environment is an internal motivation for farmers' environmental protection behavior, while the actual implementation of farmers' pro-environmental behavior in the production process is generally lower than their willingness to implement it. Ecological compensation, as an effective policy tool, can motivate farmers to actively participate in water pollution prevention and control. Existing studies lack research on farmers' willingness to be compensated for their participation in water pollution control under the combined effect of stable transfer of farmland property rights and environmental emotions, and it is important to clarify the mechanism of action and influence paths between the three factors for agricultural water pollution control. Therefore, this study is based on the external economic rationality and internal psychological motivation of farmers, and uses the PLS-SEM method to analyze the willingness of farmers to pay for water pollution control under the joint influence of the stability of the transfer of property rights and environmental emotions, so as to reflect the performance level of local government's financial investment in agricultural water pollution control, and to provide scientific reference for agricultural water pollution control. The scientific reference for agricultural water pollution management. Since farmers in the central and western regions are more concerned about agricultural income and the economic logic of agricultural water pollution treatment represented by financial compensation is more feasible, this study intends to select Gansu, Shaanxi, Hebei, and Shandong as the study areas. The results show that (1) the stable transfer of agricultural land property rights has a significant positive effect on the willingness to be compensated for agricultural water pollution management. (2) Positive environmental emotions play a mediating role in the influence of the stability of agricultural land property rights on the willingness to be paid for water pollution management. (3) Stable transfer of farmland property rights and positive environmental sentiment will improve the performance of financial investment in agricultural water pollution control.
