Abstract:
The “Digital Atlas of the Waters of Minas” is the first complete and up-to-date map of the surface water resources of the Minas Gerais state. Based on the GIS’s technology, it is a great advancement in the methods of producing and transferring knowledge through internet. It is available as website format on the address http://www.atlasdasaguas.ufv.br. It was developed through institutional partnership between the two state secretariat organizations (State secretariat of Agriculture/ /RURALMINAS and State secretariat of environment/IGAM) and the Federal University of Viçosa. It can be used as a tool for planning and managing water resources, provides important information about the grant of water use rights, and also has several applications in water resource engineering.
