Abstract
Multiple uses of water resources play an important role either for human supply or for industrial activities. Gramame watershed is a representative watershed used by different research projects related to water resources. One of these studies carried out in this watershed is the groundwater quality monitoring of its unconfined aquifer. This aquifer is very important for rural population, once they are not provided by public water supply systems. In this watershed, water samples have been monthly collected in 26 shallow wells since November 2010. The main aim of this study is to know if intensive agricultural use has affected the groundwater quality. For this purpose biological, physical and chemical parameters have been analyzed and will be compared with official Brazilian standards. Spatial distribution of these parameters is presented with support of a Geographical Information System. The first results show that even the shallowest wells have a good water quality.
