Abstract

Sub-theme

5. Establishing Sustainable Water Infrastructures

Topic

5-6. Multi-functional utilization of water projects, including hydropower stations

Body

Purpose and meaning:As we all know, it is not easy to implement the reasonable and scientific dispatching of hydropower stations. While development benefits is generating, cascade reservoirs are likely to cause ecological problems such as changes in the natural hydrological regime of natural rivers. Thus, The means of balanced development of power generation and ecological benefits should be suggested so as to realize the efficient and sustainable use of water resources. Key issues to be addressed: Aiming at the actual engineering demand problems faced in the long-term operation, there are plenty of existing reservoir operation research models. However, we lack dispatching research in the case of long-term ecological protection goals. Method and technical route: Therefore, based on the ecological flow process at the dam site of the reservoir, we calculate the degree of ecological assurance in the river as the long-term ecological protection goal of the downstream of the reservoir. Otherwise, we established a cascade reservoir group power generation-ecological long-term optimal dispatch model and draw a conventional optimal dispatch diagram and a predictive optimal dispatch diagram by parameter-simulation-optimization method. Conclusions: From the calculation results of the dispatching model and dispatching diagram established above, it can be known that the power generation capacity and the degree of ecological guarantee are relatively low in the current conventional dispatching. And, the degree of ecological assurance is less than 50%. Luckily, we found that the power generation and the degree of ecological protection after optimization have increased by 9.1% and 27.8% respectively. What’s more, What's more, both of them improved by 3.5% and 19.0%, respectively, on the optimized basis after considering the runoff forecast data. In general, the establishment of the above model and solution method improved the comprehensive utilization of hydropower station benefits and realized the efficient and sustainable use of water resources.
