Abstract

Abstract

The intense increase in our society’s consumption way associated to bad management of the natural resources are factors which have influenced, in a rapid and negative way, the quality of hydric resources. The present study aims to diagnose and evaluate the managing process as concern the hydric resources from Acaú community, in the town of Pitimbu, south coast of Paraíba. Thus, it adapts indicators of hydroenvironmental efficiency to the use of the Pressure-State-Impact-Response System of Indicators. It is an exploratory quali-quantitative research based on a case study. A total of 67 indicators were listed, being 06 of them related to Pressure, 17 to State, 11 to Impact and 33 to Response. The use of PEIR Indicator System is important for acquiring data in order to enable knowing the local context and thus favor the environmental planning and management in communitarian contexts. The research in development focuses on the reflex of the hydric resource management on the sustainable development of that place.

Keywords: hydric resources; sustainability indicators; PEIR.
