Abstract
This article aims to analyze the presence of trace metals in sediments collected at the bottom, in ditches and channels of supply of a pond in a shrimp farm and the Choró river, located at the city of Beberibe, Ceará. It is important to this discussion, because the sludge accumulated at the bottom of ponds or tanks is often anaerobic and rich in organic compounds, which favors the precipitation of metal sulfides in the form of hydrated oxide or insoluble and in the event of a change in the values of pH, these metals can be made available to the environment. The farm has connection with the Choró river and this with the Atlantic Ocean. The trace metals were identified as chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) lead (Pb), vanadium (V), aluminium (Al), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and manganese (Mn).
Keywords: trace metals; shrimp; environmental impacts.
