Abstract
The occurrence of major floods in cities in Brazil requires the structuring of decision support systems, for planning interventions and to support civil defense actions. The motivation of this study is due to the floods in the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas, northeastern Brazil, occurred in 2010. The system herein presented is based on the use of hydrological and hydrodynamic models, coupled with high definition terrain numerical models, applied to the basins of the rivers Una and Mundaú, which cities were severely affect by a major flood event in 2010.
