ABSTRACT
This article presents the results obtained the application of the simplified model and obtaining the trophic state using the probability distribution curve of the total phosphorus and Trophic State Index (TSI) of Carlson to Goitá and Tapacurá reservoirs at the Capibaribe basin in Pernambuco. The methodology consists in estimating values of phosphorus supply of the point and non point sources, determination of morphometric parameters and further use of the Simplified Model developed for tropical regions, aiming to obtain trophic state of the reservoirs through the Probability Distribution Curve and TSI. It was possible to verify that the trophic state appointed by TSI, considering data of lakes/reservoirs of predominantly temperate regions tends to overestimate the trophic classification. Therefore, this concludes that such divergence observed in the trophic degrees proposed by the used models justifies the climatic differences between the thermal areas.
