This special session on the Arab Region Commitments to the 2026 UN Water Conference will focus on water across sectors as a priority in the Arab region towards the Water Action Decade and provide success stories of regional advancements. The session will also solicit inputs from participants on concrete actions needed to support advancement on this priority through various identified accelerators such as cross-sectoral partnerships, innovation, technologies as well as institutional frameworks that link water and other relevant sectors including the High Level Joint Technical Water and Agriculture Council under the auspices of the League of Arab States. It will also explore the use of non-conventional water resources to enhance water and food security in the region by show casing regional modalities such as the use of desalination for agriculture.
