Abstract

Introduction

The project Execution of Infrastructure for Elevation and Water Supply of Vilamoura WWTP primarily aims to reuse treated wastewater for golf course irrigation, contributing to:

• Balancing water supply and demand;

• Minimizing the impacts of water scarcity;

• Promoting circular economy, technological innovation, and environmental sustainability.

The project is part of the PRR Funding Agreement, specifically under Submeasure SM4 – Promote the use of Water Reuse, with the goal of increasing volume from 1.4 hm³ to 8 hm³/year, and an initial budget of €23 million.

The contract involves constructing elevation and conveyance infrastructure at the Vilamoura WWTP, ensuring treated effluent quality and its transportation to 10 delivery points, integrating ultrafiltration technology and intelligent monitoring systems.
