Abstract

ABSTRACT

This work was carried out in the Pereira de Miranda dam (Pentecost dam) using data from the database of COGERH and collected in the field, relating them to the use and occupation of land in their vicinity, in order to diagnose the quality impacts water. During the studies, it was observed in the surroundings: the practice of the crops of beans, potatoes and corn; extensive ranching of cattle; launch fresh domestic sewage in the stream and pond itself, showers. The average concentration of phosphorus in the water column was 0.062 mg/L and the detention time of 105 days. Accordingly, we performed calculations of nutrient accumulation, estimating that the cargo is of 173.361 ton/year. The results indicate the state of eutrophication of the reservoir, making it urgent to adopt actions aimed at mitigating the impacts: improving the health conditions of the population, adoption of organic farming practices and soil conservation.
