Abstract
The experience and the knowledge about climate change of the stakeholders of a watershed is important for water resources management. Therefore, this study intended to evaluate the stakeholders’ social perception of climate change through the application of a questionnaire. These stakeholders were divided into two groups: (1) small users distributed throughout the basin and (2) the committee of the basin. The results showed that, depending on the study group, there were well-informed people (usually members of the basin committee, which do not live in the basin), people who misunderstood climate variability and change and there were also a wide range of small water users who do not even know the term climate change. But they propose alternatives of impacts prevention that can be used for public policy.
