ABSTRACT
The disordered growth of the cities have been contemplated in several problems for the urban rivers, above all, the pollution of the waters that constitute an indispensable resource to the life. Those problems appear due to a contradiction, because people migrate to the city looking for a better life conditions, however, most of the time, the city doesn't have structure to hold all those people. To analyze the quality of life in the cities, it´s necessary to observe the urban landscapes and people's daily practices that are part of that scenery. Therefore the present work has as purpose to analyze the practices of the resident population of the riverine neighborhoods in study and their relationship with the life quality. In that way for accomplishment of this study the practices socioespaciais of the population of the neighborhoods Vila Tancredo Neves and São Gabriel were analyzed, belonging to the municipal district of Cachoeirinha-PE. Considering that, the residents' practices related Rio Una, they cause damages to the health, tends in view that the polluted water is a great source of proliferation of diseases. So, the aggressions caused to the urban rivers, make problems still larger to the people's life who live there.
