Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine the levels of degradation and impairment of water quality in the upper reaches of watersheds coastal rivers Catu and Mal Cozinhado, from an integrated view of physical and human realities, taking as a study area the city of Horizonte – CE. The study area is located approximately 40 km from Fortaleza and that in recent decades has seen significant growth in its population, brought about primarily, by the vector of industrialization. It is proposed to work the metho from socioeconomic development compatible with conservation and preservation of water quality and ecological balance, using geossistemica vision as a method to relate the social and environmental variables. We concluded that compliance with the legislation can be used to mitigate water pollution, noting that this bias should be in line with the appreciation of the potential social local, the conservation of natural resources and socio-environmental quality.
