ABSTRACT
This paper aims to present a comparative study of three Brazilian experiences on the valuation of the Payment for Ecosystem Services and a proposal for the implantation in the restoration of diffuse springs of the Gramame River. A comparative analysis methodology associated with the Participative Rural Diagnostic method was used to obtain the adoption of these services in local reality. One of the results suggests that experiments financed by the public sector to propose the following two assumptions, one to induce the creation of a market for ecosystem services and the other to promote protection of water as a function of economic development. The creation of a market for such services is quite complex and the state is essential, although this is not the only segment interested in adopting this management tool. Finally it recommends efforts in studies that emphasize the agribusiness sector as a possible producer of ecosystem services.
Key-words: springs restoration projects; payment of ecosystem services; water resources management.
