ABSTRACT
The development and use of water as an essential part of production processes resulted in accelerated degradation of water sources, while the theme "Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)" has gained evidence in recent years. In Brazil, the legislation about water resources in the States and Union emphasizes, in its various articles, the importance of integration and the concept of IWRM is beginning to be recognized in this country, through the case studies listed. This Paper discusses the case of the Doce river basin - basin managed by the Union, born in Minas Gerais State and flows into the coast of Espírito Santo State, whose process of IWRM is being implemented. From the analysis of the integration process of this important river basin in Brazil, consolidated by the development of the Integrated Water Resources Plan - IWRP, Action Water Resources Plans for the catchment basins - AWRP - and the celebration of the "Pact of Water", there were evaluated thirteen key areas of change of the IWRM in your toolbox, defended by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) as an important way for more coordinated management of water resources.
