ABSTRACT
Scientific research on natural disasters have escalated across the planet. This is due the frequency and magnitude with which the phenomena are occurring. Heavy rains have been of concern due to it is sudden destruction power, mainly floods and landslides in urban areas. The characteristics of convective storms may favor the accurrence of heavy rain. This article has identified areas of Metropolitan Recife – RMR which were more vulnerable to the occurrence of convective storms. For that, weather irregularity coefficients were obtained from the rainfall time series, and next steps in the RMR, in a given period of observation. Geoestatistics was used to interpolat surface for identifying the areas most vulnerable to convective rain.
