Abstract

ABSTRACT

In the study there were known the possible situations of the quality of the water of this reservoir, through the use of the mathematical model of quality of water QUAL2E, and the toxicity of the water was evaluated through the accomplishment of ecotoxicological studies. It was applied a model of dissolved oxygen (DO) and of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). For calibration, campaigns of field were performed with the aim to characterize spatially the quality parameters of water. For the toxicological tests, concentrated samples were tested for the acute toxicity through the use of the organism-test Daphnia magna. The values experimentally for the coefficient of deoxygenation, K1 was of 0,01 d-1; coefficient of reaeration, K2 was of 0,29 d-1. The coefficient of decay BOD, K3 was of 0,0 d-1. The tests demonstrated that 61,11 % presented toxicity, 11,11 % sign of toxicity and 27,78 % did not present toxicity. It was concluded that it is possible the calibration of the model QUAL2E for the parameters DO and BOD, it was shown a tool that will be able to serve of support for the management. The toxicological tests demonstrated that the reservoir presented toxic.
