ABSTRACT
The 958.820 km2 of semiarid Northeastern Brazilian continue amplify, due to an increase in average temperature and the expansion of deforestation. The main consequence is the reduction of useful waters, which are still wasted or misused. Results are presented in two of the various searches performed on this theme: one in Piauí (waste), another in Rio Grande of Norte (management neglected). Both about groundwater. In the Piauí covers the stretch between the towns of Bom Jesus of Gurguéia and Canto of Buriti, River Valley Gurguéia. There are several permanent spurt wells, with individual flow up 600 m3 /h. The deforestation recharge zone is irresponsibly legalized. Search in Rio Grande of Norte is on the Açu Sandstone Aquifer in Potiguar Basin, where excessive exploitation downgraded the level of the water, emptied piezometric wells and reduced the volume of the reserve, which was no longer replenished due to deforestation of infiltration zone and to the advancement of semiaridity.
