ABSTRACT
This article presents the methodology and results for the Campaign for regularization of the water use in the State of Minas Gerais, an innovator project for a participative regularization and inspection of waters.The action was divided into two phases, a process of mobilization and education for regularization and the second of inspection of water uses. To achieve the proposed goal, were involved local leaders, such as city governments, unions, water users, building an effective network of partners. The results obtained in the first stage show an inexperience of the population in the water’s law and consequently of the regularization obligation, as well as the importance of a participatory process to create a collective consciousness of the importance of water management as a guarantee of water access. In the second phase, was observe the role of inspection as the propeller of regularization. Were registered 370,090 users of water, of which 70.3% is groundwater and 29.7% surface, whose prevalent use was human consumption.
