Abstract

ABSTRACT - This article has the objective of evaluating different scenery of future water conditions due to global warming and its implications for climate variations and water balance. For this, there were selected data from two regions where there is water shortage and excess, respectively located in the backwoods of Pernambuco (Araripina) and the Upper Valley of Paraiba (Cunha). In the evaluation of the water regime it was used the Water Balance, based on the method of Thornthwaite and Mather (1955), for the temperature increase of the scenarios A2 and B1 of IPCC (2007), and a mensal change in precipitation of +15% or - 15% in the period 2010-2100. Preliminary results indicated that in the worst case - scenario A2 and -15% in precipitation –Araripina would have a water deficit of up to 200mm and in Cunha and this deficit would be up to 40mm.

Key-Words: water balance, precipitation, climate scenarios
