This work is about the water quality in the Mantiqueira brook, country zone of the city of Barreiras, West of the State of Bahia, and has as parameter the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) considered by many authors, an effective method. Besides, deals specifically with the use and occupation of local soil, considering the impacts on the brook. Such activities surpasses themselves as the practice of family agriculture (mixed cultivation), breeding of animals (bovine culture, aviculture, pig breeding) and the water dam. However, the brook, receptor of the impurity coming from such practices, suffers changes in its natural balance and chemical compositions. The way this resource is used by the local community, obstructs human consumption, and therefore, this article has the objective of proving, scientifically, the conditions of the water use, for consumption.
