Abstract

Dissolved organic matter(MOD) is widely distributed in natural waters. Hydrological changes and the composition of the soil can influence the amount of organic matter in aquatic environments. Thus, the chemical characteristics of the MOD are influenced by the source material and the processes involved in the biogeochemical carbon cycle in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. In this study fluorescence excitationemission matrix were performed in order to determine the prevalence of the main source of the MOD in different regions of the Parana coast, with 12 collection points in the rivers of the state's beaches, 6 points in the region of the Paranagua bay and seven points in the region of the bay. Samples from coastal strip suggest a MOD origin from allochthonous sources, with contribution anthropic souces in some places. Samples of the Bay of Paranagua and Guaragueçaba bay showed a contribution from both sources, autochthonous and allochthonous.
