ABSTRACT
The National Health Foundation - FUNASA, through the Water Quality Control Program, aims to structure the control of water quality for human consumption in order to strengthen the public service providers of water supply as well as perform water quality control in indigenous lands. FUNASA has equipped laboratories located in Three counties and has signed with other municipalities in terms of technical cooperation to support water quality control. We also have conducted training in basic control of water quality to public service providers of water supply of about 40% of municipalities in the state. Recently, the new statute brings new assignments such as formulate and implement actions to promote and protect healthrelated actions established by the National Environmental Monitoring Subsystem. These new competencies will increase the scope of action of the institution in order to contribute with specific improvements in environmental public health related to water for human consumption.
