The IWRA Executive Office is expanding, and was seeking three people to fill two new positions and one replacement, to continue supporting its growing portfolio of activities.

IWRA is a dynamic and fast evolving association. We are currently seeking an experienced communications consultant to support the work of the Executive Office, to help us navigate the challenges and opportunities that all associations face with the on-going changes to the worlds of publishing, events and communications. This person will report directly to the Executive Director.
Vacancy Role:
This person will lead all communications and outreach of the Executive Office, including:
- Design, implementation and monitoring of the 2022-2025 communications strategy, to deliver member loyalty programmes, brand awareness, and member and partner satisfaction.
- Supervision of content planning, creation and coordination processes across all communications’ channels, documents, materials and events.
- Responsible for all Association communications and outreach, related to all publications, events and activities.
- Strengthening of IWRA’s brands (Association, Water International, World Water Congress, etc.), while developing new ideas and strategies to raise their visibility and profile.
- Management of the digital media officer who is responsible for maintaining and updating IWRA’s websites, membership space (Raklet) and digital media channels.
- Management of other part-time communications team members such as the Copy Editor, the Graphic Designer and interns, etc.
- Working with the Events Officer to coordinate with the hosts of each World Water Congress and Regional Water Congress to develop and deliver all communication related activities, as well as for all IWRA-led events (on-line conferences, webinars, master classes etc.).
- Overall responsibility for advertising and email marketing campaigns, and promotion of all IWRA outputs.
- Management of IWRA’s communications and events calendars in coordination with the Executive Board, members, Task Forces, Working Groups, Geographic Chapters, key partners and supporters.
- Creation of newsletters, media articles, speeches, press releases, press kits, marketing materials, etc. as necessary.
- Final approval of video, photography and infographic content.
- Management of IWRA’s stands and promotional activities (including branding) at all face-to-face conferences and events.
- Responsible for the creation regular KPIs and reports based on the access of IWRA content and digital channels whenever is required, and reporting to the IWRA Executive Board.
- Management of data protection issues for the Association, including IWRA’s privacy policy, cookies and other legal requirements and updates across all IWRA digital platforms and publications.
- Management of Board Elections, including Board candidacies, voting platform, reports, etc.
- Ad hoc contribution to thematic and other activities of the Association, including but not restricted to partner collaboration initiatives and projects; assistance to IWRA Executive Committees, Task Forces, Working Groups, Geographical Chapters, etc.; identification and application for alternative fund raising opportunities; and language translation responsibilities.
Candidate Profile:

IWRA hosts or is planning to host numerous events, including but not limited to the World Water Congress, Regional Water Congresses, Online Conferences, Webinars, Master Classes, workshops, etc. With this growing portfolio the Association needs someone to manage these important activities.
We are currently seeking an experienced events consultant to support the work of the Executive Office, to help the association deliver and grow its expanding portfolio of face-to-face, hybrid and on-line events. Working in a small dynamic international team, this person will report directly to the Executive Director.
Vacancy Role:
This person will be responsible for managing all of IWRA’s face-to-face and on-line events, including:
- Responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of the events strategies, including the identification of future hosts for the World Water Congresses and Regional Water Congresses as well as sponsors for IWRA’s Online Conferences and other online events.
- Coordination of all IWRA online and on-site events, including logistical and administrative activities in close collaboration with the Executive and Deputy Executive Directors, and Communications Director.
- Organisation of and support to International Scientific Committees (ISCs), and working with local hosts, to ensure oversight of abstract and proposal submission processes across all events.
- Oversee event staging, delegate management and follow-up with all stakeholders, including managing event speakers and attendees, providing briefings and logistical support as required.
- Manage the relationship with suppliers For IWRA-led events.
- Manage reporting to the Executive Board and ISCs for meetings and events, including minutes, summaries, and actions logs, etc.
- Capture specific and general outcomes/outputs from events, and package them into recommendations for publications and to be shared on IWRA’s website, social media channels, etc.
- Work with the Digital Media Officer to select the best digital platforms for on-line events, such as master classes, webinars, etc.
- Coordination of the events calendar with the communications calendar, in collaboration with the Executive Board, Task Forces, Working Groups, Geographic Chapters, and key partners.
- Contributes to the preparation and monitoring of work plans and events budgets.
- Incorporates ethical standards and IWRA’s values as the basis of all interactions.
- Ad hoc contribution to thematic and other activities of the Association, including identification and application for alternative fund raising opportunities, research of opportunities to develop existing or new projects, etc.

We are currently seeking an experienced digital media and digital content consultant to support the work of the Executive Office to navigate and take advantage of the fast digital transformation opportunities that are constantly emerging. This person will report directly to the Communications Director.
Vacancy Role:
This person will be responsible for managing all of IWRA’s social media and on-line content:
- Working with other members of the Executive Office, Board, Committees and Task Forces, to ensure that IWRA’s various websites are kept up-to-date, and fully functional, including but not limited to:
- Manage the IWRA membership platform library, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging – reporting on usage.
- Evaluation of the use of content and digital channels using data to drive and support decision-making on a regular basis, and to encourage innovation utilising feedback, analytics and testing.
- Ensuring the tone of voice, brand image and messaging across all of IWRA’s existing and future platforms and social media channels are aligned with IWRA strategies, as well as policy and legal requirements.
- Supporting content adaptation for different audiences and channels, including members, task forces, geographic chapters, the wider public, IWRA websites, the membership space, social media and third party websites, etc.
- Develop and implement an appropriate social media strategy for the Association, taking into account the diversity of IWRA’s membership.
- Driving IWRA’s content planning and coordination processes across all communications channels, which may involve internal and external contacts.
- Coordination of digital content projects (advertising, marketing campaigns, etc.) liaising with internal and external stakeholders before suggesting courses of action and implementation.
- Identifying relevant digital platforms (e.g. for master classes, webinars, blogs, podcasts) that offer an excellent online user experience, while ensuring the digital content is engaging and easy to find/use.
