The deadline of quarantine exemption application has been passed now, please note that all travelers entering Korea are required to quarantine themselves for 14 days upon their arrival in Korea from now on.

Overseas Entrants

After raising the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire world, all travelers entering Korea are required to quarantine themselves for 14 days upon their arrival in Korea starting from 1 April 2020.

For travel since 1 July 2021, limited categories of vaccinated travelers may apply for a quarantine exemption certificate prior to travel. Our Congress falls into the academic purpose category. All required documents will be submitted to the Korean Government for careful review on your eligibility and pass on your applications to foreign affairs departments.


In order to apply for the quarantine exemption, you are required to submit all relevant documents to the Congress Secretariat through email (wwcongress@exco.co.kr/wwcongress2021@gmail.com) by 13 October. Please also make sure that your registration and full payment should be completed before applying for the quarantine exemption.


[Eligibility]

  • You should be fully vaccinated with a WHO recognised vaccine in the same country and 2 weeks since the last dose should have passed before applying for the quarantine exemption.
  • You will not be travelling from a COVID High-risk countries where variant case numbers are high.
    • * High-risk countries can be updated if conditions change. As of 1 October 2021, these countries are Namibia, Republic of South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Bangladesh, Brazil, Republic of Suriname, Angola, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Chile, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Trinidad and Tobago, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Zambia, Djibouti.

  • A copy of valid passport, flight itinerary and hotel bookings during your stay in Korea
  • Quarantine Exemption Application (Application – attached 1)
  • Agreement to the Terms and Conditions (Application – attached 2)
  • Copy of your Vaccination Card (addressing vaccination type and date in English) and Pledge of Authenticity (Application – attached 3)


[After you get the quarantine exemption certificate]

  • You have to print out 4 copies and bring them with you when you enter Korea. If you do not bring a printed copy, your quarantine exemption certificate might not be valid.
  • Your quarantine exemption certificate is valid for 1 month from its issuance date
  • You must get your quarantine exemption certificate before your entry to Korea. You cannot apply for a quarantine exemption certificate after you enter Korea or while you are in Korea.
  • You must bring a negative PCR COVID-19 Test Result issued within 72 hours of your departure from your country to Korea.
  • You can use your quarantine exemption certificate only once. Once you use it, it is not valid anymore.
