Send Nominations for IWRA Awards before 31 December!

IWRA is calling for nominations for the following distinguished awards, to be presented at the XVII World Water Congress in Daegu, May 2020. Nominations should be sent by e-mail to awards@iwra.org, before 31 December 2019. The winners will be notified by early 2020.

Crystal Drop Award

The Crystal Drop Award is provided to organizations or individuals in recognition of their laudable contributions to the improvement of the world’s water situation. These contributions may be through:

1. Ground breaking research on water issues;
2. Practice in water management or governance;
3. Knowledge transfer or dissemination; and/or
4. Outstanding contributions not covered by the above.

 A nomination for the Crystal Drop Award must include:

1. Name of the organization or individual nominated
2. Basic information on the candidate, including:
   1. a short (up to 1000 words) synopsis for an organization; or
   2. a curriculum vitae or career/education summary for a person; and
   3. a description of the most important contributions to be considered for nomination
3. At least two letters of recommendation from persons other than the nominator

Nominees to the Crystal Drop Award do not need to be IWRA members, but they will be encouraged to join IWRA if they are not.

Water Drop Award

The Water Drop award will be presented to a student or early career professional (typically people up to 35 years of age) who has made an innovative contribution to the water sector.  These contributions may include, but are not limited to:

1. Ground breaking recent research on water issues;
2. Entrepreneurship in the water sector;
3. Raising the profile of younger people in the water sector.

 A nomination for the Water Drop Award must include:

1. Name of the person nominated;
2. Basic information on the candidate, including:
   1. A short (up to 1000 words) curriculum vitae or career/education summary;
   2. A description of the most important contributions to be considered for nomination;
3. At least two letters of recommendation from persons other than the nominator.

Only members of the Association in good standing are eligible for the Water Drop Award.

Ven Te Chow Memorial Lecture Award

The Ven Te Chow Memorial Lecture provides for an outstanding lecture at the IWRA World Water Congresses in honour of the first president of the IWRA.  Nominees should be well-known in the water community, and have a demonstrated ability to give outstanding lectures.  The awardee will be expected to deliver a lecture at the XVII World Water Congress in Daegu in May 2020, that promotes the objectives of the IWRA, especially to:

1. Lead and influence water policy and governance;
2. Develop and publicize tools for assessment, improvement and integrated use of water;
3. Advance water resources planning, management, development, technology, research and education at international, regional, and national levels; and
4. Generate, synthesize, and disseminate knowledge and information in the area of water and related resources and the environment.

A nomination for the Ven Te Chow Award and Lecture must include:

1. Name of person nominated
2. Basic information on the candidate, including:
   1. A short (up to 1000 words) curriculum vitae or career/education summary;
   2. A description of the most important contributions to be considered for nomination;
   3. An indication of the topic(s) for the lecture to be given at the World Water Congress.
3. At least two letters of recommendation from persons other than the nominator.

Only members of the Association in good standing are eligible for the Ven Te Chow Award and Lecture.

Both IWRA members and non-members may propose nominations to any of the IWRA Awards. Members of the Awards Committee may not be nominees but can and should make nominations, in which case they should recuse themselves from voting on their own nominees. No person or organization may be nominated for more than one award.
