The International Water Resources Association (IWRA), along with the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China (MWR), was pleased to announce that the deadline to submit proposals for the call for abstracts and special sessions for the XVIII World Water Congress on “Water for All: Harmony between Humans and Nature”, to take place in Beijing, China, has now been extended to February 28, 2023.
The Congress will facilitate knowledge and experience sharing, focusing on investigating the relationship between water, humans, and nature, identifying and reconciling all water-related factors in a coordinated manner, and formulating and implementing water management strategies and policies using systematic approaches.
Call for Abstracts
The International Scientific Committee (ISC) welcomed papers for oral presentations and poster presentations at the XVIII World Water Congress, which will be presented during the main congress programme. Experts, academics, policymakers, water professionals, private sector practitioners, and civil society stakeholders, from all disciplines and perspectives who wish to share their work and experiences during the Congress, are invited to submit abstracts. Abstracts can only be submitted online through the official Congress website.
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts should clearly describe the research, analysis, project or investigation in 300-400 words, and include the following contents:
(a) The purpose or thesis of the work.
(b) The key issue(s) or problem(s) addressed.
(c) The methodology or approach used.
(d) The results or conclusions derived from the project.
(e) Relevance to the congress theme.
Abstracts must be prepared in English and cannot include graphs, charts, diagrams, images, abbreviations, references or citations. Please don’t forget to select one of the topics listed under the six Congress sub-themes you wish to address, and indicate whether you prefer to do an oral or poster presentation.
Individuals submitting abstracts must first register for the Congress before submitting their abstracts. Presenters of accepted abstracts will have to pay the registration fees in order to present their work at the Congress.
Call for Special Sessions
Submission Guidelines
A Special Session is typically 90 minutes long and must be aligned with at least one of the topics listed under the six Congress sub-themes.
A Special Session Proposal must be prepared in English and should clearly describe the proposed programme in 300-700 words and cannot include graphs, charts, diagrams, images, abbreviations, references or citations, and should include:
(a) Title and a short description of the session (and alignment with which Congress subtheme).
(b) The name of the lead and partner organisation(s).
(c) The session objectives, justifications, and projected outcomes, aligned with the Congress theme.
(d) How the session will be organised and by whom.
(e) A list of presenters who are proposed to speak with their preliminary presentation proposals in the session (indicating those who have already committed).
(f) A description of financial and other resources that could be committed to realising the session.
